NTPC has installed its first EV charging station in Greater Noida. It is set up in an Indian Oil petrol pump. In the future, NTPC and IOCL are planning to install more charging points across the nation.

Electric vehicles are currently the talk of the town. The government is also taking concrete steps to implement sustainable vehicles in the country. It has already cut down the GST rate on electric vehicles. It resulted in a price cut of electric vehicles in India. So, naturally, this has led to rising demand for electric vehicles in India. The government may cease all the ICE vehicles by 2025. So, people are gearing up to shift to EVs.

Recently, German automaker Volkswagen denied the viability of electric vehicles in India. Its major concern is the lack of enough infrastructure to charge the EVs. This is definitely true and it needs to be addressed. In fact, EV charging points are being set up gradually. Recently, EESL joined hands with Apollo Hospital to install charging points at the latter’s hospital premises.

The EV boom is currently going on in India. As a result, many new electric vehicle makers are entering the domain. They are coming up with affordable and premium EVs.

Usually, riders can charge EVs domestically. However, it will take a long time to recharge in a domestic set up with AC charging. So, the faster alternative to this is DC EV charging station. Using DC charging, it will hardly take an hour to completely charge an EV.

We can hope to see more public charging stations getting installed everywhere in India. When EVs will completely take over the ICEVs, then there will be enough charging stations to enable a multitude of EVs to juice themselves quickly.
