India is taking one more important step to promote the use of electric vehicles. EESL(Energy Efficiency Services Limited) under the Ministry of Power will install public EV charging stations at Apollo Hospitals. It’s the first-ever partnership between a PSU and private sector. Both of them have signed an MoU.

All Apollo Hospitals across India will have public EV charging points on their premises. This agreement stands for the next ten years. This move will be a deciding factor for promoting sustainable vehicles in India.

The Indian government has already cut down the GST rates on electric vehicles. As a result of this, the price of EVs has come down. There has been a significant rise in the EV automakers in India in recent times. However, the country urgently requires more public electric vehicle charging point.

Normally, a person can charge an electric car/bike at home. It is a time-consuming process. So, public charging stations can be beneficial. The vehicles will charge much faster.

We often see long queues for petrol/diesel at the gas stations. India is now gradually shifting into the domain of EVs. A minimum number of charging points will not serve the purpose. Imagine the hassle when there will be a number of EVs waiting to charge themselves. The charging time and waiting time will waste a lot of time altogether.

Recently, German automaker Volkswagen denied the viability of EVs in India. It cited the lack of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the country. So, it’s high time to develop the EV charging infrastructure in the nation.

Let’s hope that EESL will soon begin to install public charging stations for EVs at Apollo Hospitals all over india.
