Description

The new Kia Niro EV is a futuristic all-electric SUV. It is available in 64 kWh battery version. It is available since 2018 and is currently under production.

Design

It has a unique front fascia with closed off grille (as there’s no IC engine to dissipate heat), LED Daytime Running Lights, 17-inch alloy wheels engineered to reduce drag and enhance the co-efficiency. The EV sports revised front and rear bumper fascias with blue trim accents.

Now coming to the interior, this EV packs a high-tech rotary shifter dial (shift-by-wire) with customizable lighting. It also has a large multi-functional center console with a wide array of storage options. It even sports 3 USB ports for charging and connectivity.

Safety

The Niro EV is equipped with modern-day safety technologies such as the Frontal Collision Avoidance Assistance (FCA), Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA), Smart Cruise Control (SCC), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Back Collision Warning (BCW), and Highway Driving Assistance (HWA), further enhancing operational convenience and safety.

Battery and Charging

Niro EV uses a liquid-cooled 64kWh lithium-ion polymer battery which allows for maximum passenger space. Fast charging rates are brief, so even extended road trips can continue after only short charging intervals.

Niro EV battery and powertrain includes a 201-horsepower electric motor with 291 lb.-ft. of torque. Niro’s battery can now charge at 100kW. The vehicle now comes with the Combined Charging System (CCS) DC fast-charge is standard equipment.  The fast charging will juice-up 80 percent total battery capacity in 75 minutes.  However, with a Level 2 (240v) at 7.2 kWh charger almost 9.5 hours will be taken for a full charge.

Price

The price of Kia Nero EV 64 kWh is $39,000.
