SUV is the abbreviation for Sports Utility Vehicle. These vehicles pack the qualities of both passenger cars and off-road vehicles. SUVs usually follows a unibody construction.

SUVs can run on both IC engines and electric motors. These comprise of both fully electric and hybrid cars.

Sport Utility vehicles can be of different types like

The origin of Sports Utility Vehicle goes back to 1930s. It all began with station wagons and carryalls. The first modern SUV is the 1984 Jeep Cherokee.

These utility vehicles are notable for high ground clearance and taller body. This is the reason SUVs are more prone to rollover accidents due to the high center of mass.

Some modern-day examples of electric SUVs can be Hyundai Kona Electric, Audi e-Tron Quattro 55/50 and Jaguar I-PACE.
