India is a land of massive bike enthusiasts. For each kind of bike, you’ll see a great number of fans.  We have seen how the market of ICE bikes evolved over the last decade. What used to be a commuter centric market, slowly made way for light sports, sports tourer, super sports and also superbikes. Today a number of high-end bikes are easily available in India. However, IC-based engines need fossil fuels to run. The higher the engine capacity the more fuel it would need. Scientists have already warned with scientific proofs that one day, fossil fuel may deplete. Besides, there is emission which is a major catalyst in increasing pollution. So, is there any alternative which can be efficient, looks good, is of premium built and most importantly is eco-friendly? Clearly, the answer is electric vehicles. Electric vehicles are not new in the market. In advanced nations like the US, Tesla is already manufacturing and selling popular Tesla electric cars. There are also other popular auto-makers who have been manufacturing electric cars. Electric cars do have a strong presence today, but what about bikes..? To, answer this question, India has come up with India’s first all-electric sports bike Emflux One.

Emflux One

If you think this cool and futuristic looking bike comes from some renowned auto-maker then you’re wrong. This is the brainchild of  Indian automaker-startup Emflux Motors. this all-electric sports bike was first revealed at the Auto Expo 2018. It may finally launch towards the Q4 of 2019. We will discuss the features of Emflux One, its possible pricing, availability and everything else.

If you think electric bikes are slower, then Emflux One will prove you wrong. As per the claim of its makers, this bike can hit 0-100 Km/h in a mere 3 seconds. It will also have a blazing top speed of 200 km/h. Instead of an IC engine, it will run on electric motors and battery. Emflux One can cover a range of 200 kilometers with one charge. Its motor will provide a torque of 84 nm at 8400 RPM.

In India, we mostly have seen commuter level electric vehicles in the form of scooters. However, electric vehicles in the form of top-end commuter bikes and sports bike have good potential in the Indian market. Indian young adults have a great inclination towards sporty and premium bikes. Very recently we saw the launch of Revolt RV 400 by the Revolt Intellicorps in India. However, RV 400 still qualifies as commuter bike whereas the Emflux One is a sports bike for the high-end features it packs.

Technical Specs of Electric Sports Bike Emflux One

Now, let’s get into the under-the-hood details of the upcoming electric sports bike of India.

Body

The electric sports bike Emflux One has a great quality built as its frames make use of the Tubular Steel Trellis. Trellis framing can be found on the body of notable IC-based bikes from Ducati, KTM, and Suzuki. Usually, the trellis frame provides a strong, lightweight structure that simplifies placing of the motor and battery section. The maintenance is easy with this kind of frame. Also, the side fairings are made up of Lightweight Glass-fibre panels. These fairings can be upgraded to carbon-fiber based panels.

It has full LED lighting on the front headlamp. The headlamp is pretty unconventional as it is different from the other cool designs of headlamp we have seen so far on popular bikes.

Rims and Tyres

EMflux One is clearly a premium segment electric bike. It makes use of the Pirelli Diablo Rosso tires on both front and rear. These are the tire you would find on superbikes and other high-end bikes out there. So, along with your daily commute, the Emflux One can also take a spin on the track. However, these tire set would add to the cost of the bike and also, a pair of Pirelli tires are quite expensive. In a market like India, where consumers are a bit budget conscious, the cost of the tire may be a turn off for a few. There are alternatives, but when we talk of a high-end sports bike, it should obviously make use of good and durable tire sets.

The bike has a wheelbase of 1395mm. It comes with cast alloy wheel which is upgradable to forged alloy wheels.

Brakes

The Emflux One also takes care of efficient braking experience. So, to fulfill it the bikes comes with Brembo braking system. Needless yo say these brakes are the ones you will see on the top-end superbikes. For instance, Suzuki Hayabusa uses Brembo brakes.

The Emflux One has Dual 300mm disc with Brembo monoblock 4 piston radially mounted calipers on the front tire. Again on the rear tires, you get single 220mm disc with Brembo fixed caliper.

This electric bike from Emflux comes with dual-channel ABS(Anti-lock Braking System). There are a few high-end bikes out there which provide dual-channel ABS.

The Indian government has made ABS a standard for the bike manufacturers, so a lot of 2019 made IC-based bikes are manufacturing their machines with minimum single-channel ABS (usually on the front tire). There are also non-electric bikes from Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki that support dual-channel ABS. Emflux One comes with dual ABS. Basically, with ABS, in case of sudden and hard braking situations, the wheel will not lock. Given the conditions of Indian road, ABS is actually a necessity when you’re opting for high-end speed-oriented bikes.

Suspension

As we said, the Emflux One is a track-oriented machine for the high-end features it packs. if we take a look at the suspension, this bike comes with 43mm Upside Down Forks from Öhlins racing. Ohlins is a known name which provides suspension for top-end sports and superbikes. On the rear, we get 46mm Mono Gas Shock suspension.

Dimensions

The Emflux One has a curb weight of 170 kg and it can support a load capacity of 200kg.

Electronics

Like any other electric vehicles out there the Emflux one has  6.8 inches of a touchscreen display with IP67 protection. It packs features such as in-built GPS navigation. The display console runs on Emflux Learning OS V1.0.  It runs on NVIDIA Jetson TK1 (NVIDIA Kepler GPU with 192 CUDA Cores and NVIDIA 4-Plus-1 Quad-Core* ARM Cortex- A15 CPU. On this instrument cluster, the rider will get various information such as integrated navigation, communication, connectivity, real-time system status updates, speedo, odo, and trip meter. The Emflux Learning OS will be upgraded via over-the-air software updates from the manufacturer.

Motor

The electric bike from Emflux packs a liquid-cooled Emflux trade marked phase AC induction motor. It provides a peak torque of 84 Nm. The motor has an IP rating which will protect it from minor issues of getting in contact with water and dust. It has an IP 67 rating.

Battery System

The Emflux One comes with liquid-cooled Lithium-ion Emflux Modular Battery Pack. It comprises of high power Samsung Cells. the bike makes use of Emflux WARP Charger which can juice up the motorcycle up to 80% in 36 minutes. However, it will take up to 3 hours while charging from a regular 15A Wall Charger. Due to the use of Lithium-ion batteries, the Emflux One will make the rider feel lighter during riding.

Price

India is a potential market for electric bikes. The domain has just begun to thrive. There is almost no competition as the brand presence is very minimal. So, when a manufacturer launches its product that too high-end with full environment-friendly features, its price point is not something which can be compromised.

As per various sources over the internet, the Emflux One will cost around Rs 5 to 6 lakhs INR. Obviously, the final version of the bike is yet to come out. So, there is no official report regarding the pricing. According to us, the pricing is justified given it uses Brembo braking system, Pirelli tires, and Ohlins suspensions. Besides, there is no competition in the sports range in the all-electric segment. Moreover, Emflux One belongs in the luxury section. It can act as a commuter and also as a potential track machine. For all these goodies this eco-friendly bike has to offer, the pricing is apt.

Availability

As per PowerDrift, the popular automobile media house, Emflux motors have just released the prototype of Emflux One which works at 40% of its peak performance. This means a lot of work is still underway to make this machine perfect before its launch. The firm will probably release around 500 units of this bike. Majority of these bikes will be exported to outside markets

So, this was our take on the upcoming Emflux One. What do you think of this all-electric premium sports bike? Do share your take on its price, design and all other things.
