Finally, Volkswagen has unveiled its affordable electric offering for the year 2019. Yes, you have guessed it right. We are talking about the all-new electric Volkswagen ID 3 which has now been unveiled prior to the Frankfurt Motor Show. Earlier it has been revealed that the Volkswagen ID3 will enter production in November 2020.

From the last few weeks, the ID3 has been the center of attraction in the EV world. Previously, we had a considerable amount of information about ID3. However, now it is all official. We even got to see the camouflaged image of the car. Now, the car has revealed in its entirety. Electric Volkswagen ID3 Variants

As we have mentioned before, based on the battery power there will be three variants of the ID3. A basic variant, mid-range variant, and a long-range variant.

ID3 Basic variant

This model will sport a 45kWh battery pack. It will offer a top speed of 160km/h. This car can support a range of 330 kilometers based on WLTP. The ID standard model supports battery charging output of 7.2 kW (AC) and 50 kW (DC). 100 kW DC charging is optionally also available. DC charging will juice up the vehicle much faster.

The basic variant will cost under $33,000. Though this sounds like the cheapest and standard most version, it will release later.

ID3 Mid-range variant

This model is otherwise known as the first edition. This one will be the first one to get delivered to the customer. In this variant, users will get a battery pack of 58kWh. According to the WLTP, it can offer a range of up to 420 kilometers.

It supports a battery charging output of 11kW if charged via AC source. If you opt for the DC source, it can support charging output of 100kW. The DC fast charging will provide enough charge to the ID3 to cover a range of 290 kilometers within 30 minutes.

Currently, there is no information about the pricing of this mid-range variant of the ID3.

ID3 Long-range variant

This variant of ID3 will pack a battery of 77kWh. It is apparently the largest battery variant among the trio. It can drive up to a WLTP based range of 330km.

The battery charging output from AC source can support up to 11kW. From a DC power source, the car will support up to 125kW. Also, there is no confirmation regarding the exact price of the ID3 long-range variant.

The interior has no center tunnel. It is very spacious given its a car in the mid-range segment. The first edition of ID3 supports up to 5 passengers. It provides a boot capacity of 385 liters. The the boot space houses itself behind the backseat row.

According to Volkswagen, the structure of the ID3 comes from natural shapes. It follows bionic design more than rational technology. The surface of the ID3 has an organic shape which indicates openness in the design.

What unique features does the Volkswagen ID3 pack?

Now, let’s see what are the useful features Volkswagen ID3 users are going to enjoy. The ID3 comes with the driver-assist features. This includes Front Assist with City Emergency Braking System. Then there are Pedestrian monitoring,multi-collision brake, etc. Also, the EV comes with Lane Assist system. Under this, the car will offer the lane-keeping system, lane change system. There is the parking assist system which makes use of the rearview camera system.

However, this is not all. depending upon the powertrain, there will be multiple other features present on the electric Volkswagen ID3.

ID3 1st Edition

The ID3 1st edition will pack a digital radio system, seat and steering heating, armrests, charging cable, GPS system. It will also sport 18-inch light-alloy wheels.

ID3 First Plus

This variant will come with more sophisticated features. It will have a rear-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, and keyless access, locking and starting system. The ID3 First Plus will feature designer seats. It will sport matrix LED headlights, Matrix sidelights, brake lights, turn indicators, etc.

ID3 1st Max

This variant bis the high-end model of the series. Of course, it will bring similarly premium and convenient features for ID3 users. It includes Augmented reality display, Beats sound system, luggage compartment floor, sliding/tilting glass roof. This model will also feature Lane assist system. The Id3 1st Max will come with 20-inch alloy wheels.
