Three new Mahindra electric vehicles are soon going to hit the Indian market. The confirmation about new EVs come from Pawan Goenka, MD of Mahindra. There will be a KUV 100 electric which will launch in 2019. A second EV XUV300 will follow it in 2020. Also, an electric sedan will release in 2021.

It is obvious that the reduction in GST plays a crucial role, enabling the firm to work on new EVs. Currently, the manufacturer has one sustainable vehicle, the e-Verito. Upcoming Mahindra electric vehicles will induce a strong market competition with other Indian EV makers.

Recently, the GST Council slashed the tax on EVs in India to 5% from 12%. As a result of this prices of electric vehicles came down throughout the country. This is a golden opportunity for the EV makers to mark their entry in the Indian market. Even consumers are aware of the disrupt EV is causing. The public is curious to try out various options available in the electric transportation segment. So, Mahindra’s move is pretty good.

Sometimes ago, the automaker also opened an EV production facility in Chakan. It will manufacture electric motors and EV batteries. Mr. Goenka says that the uprise of EV should not hamper the market of IC engine based vehicles. The disruption should maintain a balance between both the EV and IC vehicles market.
