India is shifting faster towards its goal of 100% sustainable vehicles. Every state is doing its part in implementing more number of EVs. Recently, in Odisha, the State Renewable Energy Agency tender has invited a tender. It is for the design, supply, and maintenance of electric rickshaw and carts.

As per the tender, the whole process will go for five years. The tender mention of 3 types of electric vehicles. These are electric rickshaw, the electric cart with container and e-cart with AC freezer. The rickshaw will be for passenger use. It mentions the need of 25 units each of e-rickshaw and cart container. There is a separate requirement of 50 units of the electric cart with freezer.

The deadline for online bid submission is September 16, 2019. Also, bidders have to submit the hard copy of bids by September 19, 2019.

The potential bidders must fulfill certain criteria. They must be an Indian company or partnership firm with proper registration. The bidders must have incurred a cumulative turnover of Rs 50,00,000 in last three years. It should be particularly in the business of electric vehicle supply.

The bidder must have been a previous supplier of EVs for Central/State Govt and institutions, etc. They must have supplied a minimum of 30 electric vehicles in the last 3 years to these institutions.

It is mandatory that the bidder should provide materials of good quality. It must adhere to the rules of the Motor Vehicle Act. Also, certification agencies like ICAT and ARAI must certify the electric vehicles.

The electric rickshaw and other products should follow a customizable commercial design. It must follow the requirements of OREDA.
