Toyota took everyone by surprise as it was spotted testing its hydrogen fuel cell-powered car on the Indian roads. This car goes by the name Toyota Mirai. This car makes use of Hydrogen as a fuel. This natural element is lighter than air. So, if it is used as fuel, it will emit no carbon into the environment.

Toyota Mirai

Toyota has been working for a long time developing this hydrogen-based fuel cell powertrain technology. However, Toyota Mirai is no extraordinary car if we look at it in general. It can be used for regular day-to-day commuting purposes.

Mirai offers a top speed of 178kmph. It can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 9.6 seconds. This acceleration seems a little bit behind what the regular electric cars come with. On average, we see electric cars rev up from 0-100kmph in 5 to 6 seconds. However, Toyota claims that Mirai can exhibit an impressive range of 550 km. This is quite more than what regular electric car exhibit.

Mirai packs an electric motor with a power output of 113kW. Also, it offers a peak torque of 335Nm. that’s quite a good configuration for a passenger carrier. This car equips to hydrogen fuel cell tanks with a capacity of 182-liters. The power density of the hydrogen fuel cell is 3.1kW/I.

As of now, there are no details about the price or availability of the Toyota Mirai. we believe it may release around mid-2020. So, what’s your take on the all-new Hydrogen-powered Mirai.? Let us know in the comment section below.
