With each passing day, India is taking one big step towards realizing its goal for making India country that entirely uses electric vehicles. Recently, in India, the country’s first-ever heavy-duty electric truck has been launched. This truck is developed by an Indian startup called Infraprime Logistics Technology (IPLT).

This truck has a load capacity of around 60-tonnes. It also happens to be the only electric vehicle in India that comes with an automatic transmission with the support of the two-speed operation.

The InfraPrime electric truck has been completely built in India. This is another achievement for India. The government of the country has been encouraging the Make in India movement. The localization in the making process brings down the cost of the electric truck down to a significant figure.

This electric truck is a medium-range goods transport vehicle. It will be used for transporting the materials from mines and construction sites. Cement companies will also use this truck.

Largest battery system in an EV used in India

This truck comes with a modern battery coolant. The vehicle makes use of a system refrigerant. It connects with the battery cells. In the truck there is a battery system of 2 metric-tonnes. It is the largest battery pack that is currently in use in india for electric vehicles. This battery can charge up in only eight minutes using a twin-gun fast charger.

Its makers claim that the truck can cover a range of 400kilometers without payload. With the payload, this truck can cover up to 200kilometers.  This is quite a decent figure. A goods carrier usually makes longer trips on the road. So, 200 kilometers of the range indicates that it will require charging in the regular interval while it travels. It will be okay for inter-city goods transportation.

This electric truck will not be available for commercial sales purpose. It will only operate in fleets. Initially, five trucks will launch in the next 2 months. The manufacturer has plans to produce more than 50 trucks starting from early 2020.
