Hero Cycle is one of the oldest and prominent bicycle manufacturers of India. Now, that the country is moving towards sustainable vehicles, Hero has joined the bandwagon as well. It has released its Hero Lectro EHX20 cycle in India.

The cycle maker has joined hands with Yamaha’s smart Power vehicle Business to develop this e-bike. The eco-friendly cycle comes with a detachable battery pack. It also has a mid-mounted motor. This motor comes from Yamaha. According to Hero, the battery will take 3 to 5 hours to charge up. Its weight is less than 2kg.

Hero Lectro EHX20 offers a top speed of 25kmph. This is pretty good for daily commuting requirements. it can cover a range of 80 kilometers per charge.  The best part about the EHX20 is, it doesn’t require any kind of registration. In fact, you do not even need a driving license to ride it. This fact should bring relief to those ICEV owners who are in tension due to the latest revised traffic rules in India.

In fact, due to its sporty design, you can also use it for adventure rides. This bike comes with triple sensor technology. This comprises of toque, speed and crank sensors. The instrument console on the electric cycle provides various information range, battery percentage. The cycle also comes with various riding modes.

The braking section is quite high-end with hydraulic disc brakes. It is available on both the tires of the EHX20. It also gets a hydraulic suspension.

However, the price of the Hero Lectro EHX20 is quite on the higher side. It costs around 1.3 Lakhs INR ($1,825 approx.). That’s quite pricey. However, this electric cycle is a powerful addition to the rising number of electric vehicles in India.

Hero will face competition from other electric cycle makers as well. Recently, Polarity also launched its electric bikes. The price point may be the deciding factor for the buyers to consider this cycle.
