A new Gemopai electric scooter, Astrid Lite is going to launch this August in India. It is one of the two bikes which the Indo-Chinese joint endeavor plans to release this year. India has good potential for electric scooters. The Indian EV market already has makers like Okinawa and Ather. Gemopai is planning to set up a production facility in India. Currently, the automaker is importing its parts from China. The entry of Gemopai will definitely lead to good market competition. Gemopai’s Astrid Lite will butt heads with Ather 450. Overall it will strengthen the presence of EVs in the country.

Gemopai is the combination of Indian venture Goreen E-Mobility and Chinese automaker Opai. Opai is one of the biggest electric bike makers in China. Its bikes are sold in the European and South American.

Gemopai electric scooter comes with portable batteries. It enables the plug-in charging. Users can also take out the battery of the bike and charge it separately. The upcoming Gemopai scooters will get the benefits of Fame II subsidy set by the Indian government.
