The popular German automotive industry, ZF has introduced all-new 2-speed Transmission for Electric Cars. It is planning to develop an electric motor with a maximum power of 140 kW/188 bhp. This motor will make use of a two-speed shifting system. This new system in vehicles will enable less consumption of energy.

This energy-saving will lead to an increase in the range of the electric vehicle. Usually, the transmission should occur when the vehicle is at 70 Km/h. Basically, with 2-transmission the primary focus is on performance and energy conversion.

The EV makers will now have two options for energy saving with the usage of 2-speed Transmission. They can keep the size of the accumulator same and go for range extension. Otherwise, they may use a small accumulator. Those manufacturers aim to produce performance-oriented cars, can make use of this 2-speed transmission.
