Hyundai KONA Electric is a promising non-emission SUV from the Korean automaker. However, recent news of a KONA electric exploding inside a home garage in Canada is making rounds of the internet. The Hyundai SUV exploded while it was standing in a garage in Montreal. It was powerful enough to blow away the garage door.

There is no report of any casualty due to this electric vehicle explosion. The local fire department is investigating the matter. Piero Cosentino, owner of the affected car says it’s fairly a new vehicle he has been using from March this year. At the time of the explosion, the SUV was not plugged in or charging.

Reacting to this incident Hyundai Canada says they always care about the safety of their customers. The company will completely cooperate for investigations regarding the SUV explosion.

The KONA electric recently marked entry in the Indian region. It is available at an ex-showroom price of 25.30 Lakhs INR. It is India’s first-ever electric SUV. The SUV can travel up to 452 kilometers with a single session of charging.  A user can charge his KONA electric using both 7.2kW AC wall box charger and a 2.8kW portable charger. The automaker provides the electric SUV with 3 years of warranty and 3-years of on-road assistance.
