Sedan

Home/Cars/Sedan

A sedan is usually a passenger car in a three-box formation. This means the engine, passenger section, and the cargo space has separate housing. The naming comes from a 17th-century sedan chair. In this, a person enclosed with windows gets carried by porters. Sedans are available for both internal combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles.

Usual notion states that a sedan must have four doors. However, there are also sedans with two doors. These kinds of vehicles have less slopy roofline. So, this enables better headroom for the passengers.

Another characteristic of a sedan is two rows of seats. Most importantly they have a B-pillar which separates the front and the rear window while supporting the window.

Tesla Model 3 car is a good example of electric sean. Here on EVLens, you can find a number of sedans from various popular automakers from around the world.
